No Satnav for Heaven

Tuesday lunch club at St Mary’s church today was busy, poor Margaret was having to cope with only two staff, so some of the diners mucked in and gave a hand and everyone had a lovely hot dinner.
Brian and Pat took the little service afterward, we sang a few hymns and then had a Who wants to be a Millionaire quiz, it was based on the TV show needless to say we did very well but blew it on the £64.000 question. Afterwards he read out a poem from a magazine which went as follows:

I have a little Satnav, it sits there in my car
A satnav is a driver's friend, it tells you where you are.
I have a little satnav, I've had it all my life
It’s better than the normal ones, my satnav is my wife.
It gives me full instructions, especially how to drive.
"It's thirty miles an hour", it says, "you're doing thirty five."
It tells me when to stop and start and when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever safe to overtake.
It tells me when a light is red and when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively just when to intervene.
It lists the vehicles just in front and all those to the rear
And taking this into account, it specifies my gear.
I'm sure no other driver has so helpful a device,
For when we leave and lock the car it still gives its advice.
It fills me up with counselling, each journey's pretty fraught.
So why don't I exchange it and get a quieter sort?
Ah well, you see, it cleans the house, makes sure I'm properly fed,
It washes all my shirts and things and keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages and my tendency to scoff,
I do wish that, once in a while, I could turn this Satnav off.

I think quite a few of the gentlemen could relate to this J

Brian explained though that Jesus is the only way, we can’t trust in anything or anyone else to save us and give us eternal life it is only through Jesus. He is the only way we can be forgiven by God for our sins, He alone can give us freedom, light and life.

£64,000 can’t buy you forgiveness, joy, peace and eternal life, all the books on self-help can’t give you forgiveness, joy and peace, if you truly want help then Jesus is the only way, in Him you will have forgiveness of sin, joy, peace and eternal life, now that’s real treasure.

Jesus said
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life
No one comes to the Father except through me".

Tuesday Magic

I went along to the lunch club at St Mary's church, Eastwood today, as usual the dinner was scrumptious, not forgetting the lovely pineapple sponge pudding. We sang a couple of songs one being, Rejoice in the Lord always, which we sang in a round it was lovely and I wished I'd have filmed it so that I could share it with you, but there we are we think of theses things after the event.

Don Chambers a magician, who used to teach my friend Linda and I at school in erm...... more years than I care to remember showed us some magic tricks with rope, after each trick he asked:
Is it a miracle?........no
Is it possible?..........yes
Is it an illusion?.......yes

Linda learns a magic trick

He told us how he had seen a sign in a magic shop that said "The impossible we can do straight away, miracles take a little longer!" But as he reminded us it is with God that all things are possible. He spoke of the up and coming anniversary of the D Day landings in Normandy on June 6th 1944, which was the biggest seaborne invasion and the greatest military campaign the world has seen, was that possible?...Yes, he told us the stories of the thousands of Jewish children that were rescued was that possible?....Yes. He spoke of the state of the world and how there are so many evil things happening in places like Nigeria and Syria, is it possible that these things can get sorted out?....Yes. How and by whom?
Governments?........No,
The UN?.................No,
European Union?....No,
United Nations?......No,
The World Bank?...No.

How then and by whom can man's problems be solved? There is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ, He is the only one who can change the heart of man and unless the hearts of men are changed then the world won't change. Jesus came for all men and is willing to accept any who come to Him in repentance and ask Him into their lives.

There was much more to Don's message but the message was clear. Is it possible I can change?....Yes, through Jesus the Son of God and the King of kings.

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Is it possible you can change?....Yes, If you confess your sin, repent of your sin, and ask Jesus into your heart and life then He will forgive you and come into your life and make you new.

After the lunch club I went to the Salvation Army at Ripley and had a wonderful time of fellowship, which you can find out about here, Getting to Know You
