Warning, Warning

I recently went on holiday with the coach company KM Travel of Chesterfield to Bognor Regis, staying at the Royal Norfolk hotel, on our second day we had a trip to Worthing, I thoroughly enjoyed myself walking around the town, the pier and the beach. One part of the beach has large rocks placed as a sea defence with warnings all along them, saying, "Warning, danger, keep off”.
You can imagine my surprise when I saw a man scrambling over them with his young son, stopping to get their step right next to one of the many warning signs. Not only was this man putting himself in danger but his son too.  As I continued to walk a lady and her mother also clambered onto these rocks to take a selfie, they too stood next to the warning signs. I wonder who they would have blamed if they had had an accident.

I thought about this and wondered what kind of excuses people will try to give when they find themselves at the judgement seat of God, having ignored all warnings they received in their lifetime. But it will be too late, judgement will be done and they will be condemned. But oh, how different it will be for those who heed the warnings and steer clear of evil walking in the light of God. God reveals Himself in nature, there will be no excuse for any man. Those who seek God He will reveal Himself to, He has also revealed Himself and His will for our lives in His Word, the Holy Bible, He has revealed how we can be saved from this awful judgement that is to come. The only way is through Jesus Christ, God's Son, who came to earth to seek and save the lost. He died at Calvary by crucifixion taking the punishment for our sins, He rose on the third day, giving to everyone who repents of their sin and believes in Him everlasting life. We shall all one day stand before God, some to eternal life, some to judgement.

How do you stand,
have you taken heed of the warnings?

A New Walk

When my children were young we used to play a game called, I went for a walk and while I was walking, the idea being that the first person would say something you would see outside, ie car, the next would add theirs ie daffodil and so on, and each time you had to remember every one, the winner being the last one who remembered them all. It was really good fun.

I went for a walk for a couple of hours the other day and I was thinking about this while I was walking in relation to my life: I went for a walk and while I was walking all around I saw play, bullying, abuse, work, sadness, hatred,  bitterness, envy, strife, debt, divorce, (need I go on)?

And then I thought of my own life and what was in it, I went for a walk and while I was walking I saw, love, children, laughter, happiness, pain, sorrow, adultery, divorce, sin, shame, guilt……darkness.

I went for a walk and while I was walking I saw a cross, a crown of thorns, sweat, blood, taunting, anger, hatred, mocking, cruelty, curses, whipping, spitting, blasphemy, death, darkness, the Son of God, love, grace, mercy...

I went for a walk and while I was walking I saw Jesus.
I went for a walk and while I was walking I asked Him for forgiveness,

We went for a walk and while we were walking I experienced, love, joy, forgiveness, peace, light, new life, eternal life. We went for a walk and while we were walking I stumbled, faltered, doubted, I asked for help. We went for a walk and while we were walking He was gentle, kind, compassionate, long suffering, forgiving, He answered my prayer.

We went for a walk and while we were walking we saw lost souls in darkness.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

We went for a walk, and we’re still walking, care to join us?

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin1 John 1:7

The Farmer

A farmer was sitting at home one winters evening thinking over the words he had with his wife earlier. She had gone out to yet another one of her church meetings they were preparing she said for the Christmas celebrations and he had told her in no uncertain terms what he thought of her Christmas celebrations.

He was tired of arguing but then he realised that in fact it was him who argued she didn't argue really but just spoke very calmly and firmly about her believes when he brought it up. It had all started the previous year when she had been invited to the nativity and she just kept going to church then something changed she came home one day and said she had asked for God's forgiveness and for Jesus to come into her life. Thinking about it now he had humoured her at first but after awhile he just couldn't accept the things she was saying it all sounded to far fetched but the rub was that there was something about her these days, she had a inner peace and a joy that he had never had.

Of course it was all nonsense no way was he going to believe that God if there was a God had come to earth as a baby, ridiculous. His thoughts were taking him all over the place when he heard a strange thud, and then another, and another he decided to investigate, he put on his boots and coat and went outside he could hardly believe his eyes geese were dropping like flies out of the sky because of the snow storm, he needed to get them somewhere warm and dry until it blew over, the barn would be the best place and so he set to trying to round them up, goodness me what a terrible racket they would not go in the barn, he decided to fetch the dog, that didn't work it only made matters worse what on earth was a matter with these geese he only wanted to get them somewhere safe, if only he could make them see that they were in danger out here, but then he realised that they didn't trust him he wasn't one of them the only way he could ever get them safe was to become a goose himself.

There and then in the middle of the storm the farmer fell to his knees in the snow surrounded by geese and asked for forgiveness for his sins and asked Jesus to come into his life and then he knew that peace and joy that his wife had. When he looked up the geese had gone, God can and does speak to us in all kinds of ways and how He rejoices when we respond.

Is He talking to you now while you are reading this story? Christmas is all about God sending His Son Jesus to earth as a baby, He became like us in every way except He never sinned in order that we could be saved.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Will you respond?
